  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

    6-song EP recorded in 1987.

During seven years of relentless touring, Get Smart! earned a national reputation for intense live shows and edged their way onto college radio playlists with their first two LPs, Action Reaction (1984) and Swimming With Sharks (1986).

In January, 1987, the band began work on their third album with seminal recording engineer, Iain Burgess. These recordings were archived for 33 years until Get Smart! reformed this year.

With the aim of matching their live sound, the band commissioned Steve Albini to craft the final mixes with them. These six songs prove that the tension and inspiration shown on their first LPs was no idle promise.

about

©Get Smart! Lyrics by Lisa Wertman Crowe

lyrics

If it lasts for an hour It’s just an illusion
It’s lasting too long and you’re an intrusion
Interrupt when I’m talking
Asleep when I’m walking
You can stop the sound
You can touch the ground
But you can’t
You can’t move me

A pile of confusion’s tied up in my head
It’s spitting out anger and I’m full of dread
We’re moving through changes
We won’t pass again
You’re looking through curtains
You’re wondering when
I’ll disappear

Cover me with rain
Cover me with rain
We can slip and fall
We can lose it all
But you can’t change me
You can’t change me
You can’t change me
You can’t change me

It’s hard
It’s hard

Someone’s spinning tales of wonder
Someone’s got a bottle to kill
Someone’s gonna make it thunder
But this one’s slipping on the painted floor

Someone’s spinning tales of wonder
Someone’s got a bottle to kill
Someone’s gonna make it thunder
But this one’s slipping on the painted floor

It’s hard
It’s hard

It’s hard to hear your heartbeat
When you’re dreaming
It’s hard to hear your heartbeat
When you’re dreaming

It’s hard
It’s hard

It’s hard to hear your heartbeat
When you’re screaming
It’s hard to hear your heartbeat
When you’re screaming
When you’re screaming

Someone’s spinning tales of wonder
Someone’s got a bottle to kill
Someone’s gonna make it thunder
But this one’s slipping on the painted floor

Someone’s spinning tales of wonder
Someone’s got a bottle to kill
Someone’s gonna make it thunder
But this one’s slipping on the painted floor

On the painted floor
On the painted floor I’m
On the painted floor
On the painted floor
On the painted floor
